Papers that are sent to Journal of Dialog in Endocrinology must be prepared according to the Instructions to Authors. Otherwise the “peer review procedure” cannot be started. Our journal should be cited as: “Journal of Dialog in Endocrinology”. Manuscripts should not exceed 20 double-spaced typed pages, including figures, tables, and reference list. Authors are also advised to keep a full copy of their papers for reference. Manuscripts must be signed by each author as it is the responsibility of all authors to agree on the content of their paper before submission.

Manuscript Categories
All manuscripts must adhere to the limitations, as described below, for text only; the word count does not include the abstract, references, or figure/table legends. The word count must be noted on the title page, along with the number of figures and tables. Original Articles should be no longer than 5000 words and include no more than six figures and tables and 50 references. Short Communications are short descriptions of focused studies with important, but very straightforward results. These manuscripts should be no longer than 2000 words, and include no more than two figures and tables and 20 references. Clinical Reviews address important topics in the field of endocrinology. Authors considering the submission of uninvited reviews should contact the editors in advance to determine if the topic that they propose is of current potential interest to the Journal. Reviews will be considered for publication only if they are written by authors who have at least three published manuscripts in the international peer reviewed journals and these studies should be cited in the review. Otherwise only invited reviews will be considered for peer review from qualified experts in the area. These manuscripts should be no longer than 6000 words and include no more than four figures and tables and 120 references. Case Reports are descriptions of a case or small number of cases revealing novel and important insights into a condition’s pathogenesis, presentation, and/or management. These manuscripts should be 2500 words or less, with four or fewer figures and tables and 30 or fewer references. Consensus Statements may be submitted by professional societies. All such submissions will be subjected to peer review, must be modifiable in response to criticisms, and will be published only if they meet the Journal’s usual editorial standards. These manuscripts should be no longer than 4000 words and include no more than six figures and tables and 120 references. Letters to the Editor may be submitted in response to work that has been published in the Journal. Letters should be short commentaries related to specific points of agreement or disagreement with the published work. Letters should be no longer than 500 words with no more than 5 complete references, and may not include any figures or tables.

Note on Prior Publication
The journal publishes original research and review material. Material previously published in whole or in part shall not be considered for publication. At the time of submission, authors must report that the manuscript has not been published elsewhere.

Preparation of the Manuscript
Papers must be written in Turkish or in English. All papers written in English must be checked for linguistic accuracy before submission. Text should be double spaced with 2.5 cm (1 inch) margins on both sides using 12-point type in Times Roman font. Each section (title page, abstract and key words, text, acknowledgements, references, tables, legends) should start on a separate page. The pages should be numbered consecutively, beginning with the title page. The page numbers should be placed in the lower right corner of each page. Manuscripts should be prepared as word document (*.doc) or rich text format (*.rtf). The text of observational and experimental research articles should be divided into sections with the headings: Introduction, Material and Methods, Results, and Discussion. Long articles may need subheadings within some sections (especially the Results and Discussion sections) to clarify their content. Case reports should also have the title page, abstract and keywords, introduction, case report and discussion.

Title Page. The title page should include the following: 1) full title of the article both in English and Turkish; 2) authors’ names with academic degrees, and names of department(s) and institution(s); 3) short title of not more than 40 characters for page headings; 4) at least three and maximum six key words (do not use abbreviations in the key words); 5) word count (excluding abstract, figure legends and references); 6) corresponding author’s e-mail and post address, telephone and fax numbers; 7) name and address of the person to whom reprint requests should be addressed; 8) any grants or fellowships supporting the writing of the paper

Abstract. An informative abstract of not more than 200 words both in Turkish and English must accompany each manuscript. Only articles from “abroad” written in English are not obliged to have Turkish abstracts or key words. Turkish version of the title, abstracts or key words will be prepared by the editorial office of the journal. Abstract must be “structured” and include background (data on problem), materials and methods, results and conclusion. New and important observations or aspects of the study should be emphasized. Abstracts of the review articles should be a brief overview of all the main points from the review.

Key words. Up to six key words should be provided that might be used by researchers searching bibliographic databases for the paper. Always try to use terms from the Medical Subjects Headings list from Index Medicus. (www.nlm.nih.gov/mesh/MBrowser.html). Text should include:

Introduction. Acquaint the readers with the problem and with the findings of others. Quote the most pertinent papers and state clearly the nature and purpose of the work.

Materials and Method. Clinical, technical or experimental procedures should be clearly explained. Previously published papers related to methods should be cited.

Results. Findings must be described without comment. A concise textual description of the data presented in tables, charts and figures should also be included.

Discussion. Comment on your findings and relate them to those from previous other authors. You should define their relevance to experimental research or clinical practice.

Statistical Analysis. Describe statistical methods with enough detail to enable a knowledgeable reader with access to the original data to reproduce the reported results. When possible, quantify findings and present them with appropriate indicators of measurement error or uncertainty (such as confidence intervals). Avoid relying solely on statistical hypothesis testing such as the use of P values which fails to convey important quantitative information. Details about randomization: describe the methods for and success of any blinding of observations. Report complications of treatment. Give numbers of observations. Report loses to observations (such as drop out from a clinical trial).

References. The author is responsible for the accuracy of the references. Citations in the text should be identified by numbers in brackets. The list of the references at the end of the paper should be given according to their first appearance in the text, listing all authors (when there is more than six authors only first three should be named and remaining shown as et al.) and using journal abbreviations as listed in Index Medicus. Examples;

Tables. Tables should supplement not duplicate the text. Each table should be typed (double spaced) on a separate sheet and numbered consecutively with arabic numerals. Place explanatory matters in footnotes. Footnotes to tables should be indicated by lower-case superscript letters. Each table must be cited in the text in consecutive order.

Illustrations. Illustrations should be limited to those essential for the text. The same results should be presented as either graphs or tables not as both. All figures, whether photographs, graphs, or diagrams, should be numbered consecutively and kept separately from the main text. The publisher reserves the right to reduce or enlarge illustrations. Arrows, letters, and numbers should be inserted professionally. If this is not possible, inscriptions should be made on a transparent overlay (not on the actual photograph). Micrographs should have an internal magnification marker; the magnification should also be stated in the caption. Legends must be brief, self-sufficient explanations of the illustrations in no more than four or five lines. Remarks such as “For explanation, see text” should be avoided. The legends should be typed on a separate page. Submit your figures as EPS, JPG, TIFF or PDF files. Use 300 dpi resolution for photographic images and 600 dpi resolution for line art.
