Abstract
Primary hyperparathyroidism (PHPT) is characterized by the autonomic excess of parathormone (PTH) secretion of one or more of the parathyroid glands. The primary key to success in parathyroid surgery is surgical experience and good preoperative localization. In recent years, 4D CT in imaging has become very important. Especially if MIBI with SPECT and USG show the same localization, focused surgery can be successfully performed. Assistive methods such as intraoperative PTH, intraoperative gamma probe will increase operative success. Localization of ectopic pa rathyroid adenomas is well known and these regions sho uld be investigated during the operation.
